S’mores Rice Krispie Treats

3 cups Rice Krispies cereal

2 cups mini marshmallows (plus additional for topping)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 cup milk chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate bar)

1 cup crushed graham crackers (approximately 6 full sheets)

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Prepare the Pan: Start by greasing a 9x13 inch baking dish with unsalted butter, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the treats later.

    Melt the Butter: In a large saucepan, heat the unsalted butter over medium heat until fully melted. Once melted, add in the mini marshmallows. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are thoroughly melted and the mixture is smooth.

      Add Flavor: Once the marshmallows are melted, remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt until combined well.

        Combine Ingredients: Gradually fold the Rice Krispies cereal and crushed graham crackers into the melted marshmallow mixture. Ensure that everything is evenly coated. Gently fold in the milk chocolate chips, mixing them throughout without letting them melt.

          Press into the Pan: Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Using either buttered hands or a spatula, evenly press the mixture into the dish, making sure it's compact and smooth on top.

            Top with Marshmallows and Chocolate: For an added s'mores effect, scatter extra mini marshmallows and additional milk chocolate chips on top of the pressed mixture.

              Set and Chill: Let the treats cool at room temperature for a minimum of 30 minutes until they are set. To speed up the setting process, place the dish in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.

                Cut and Serve: Once the treats are cooled and firm, carefully lift them out of the pan using the parchment paper (if used). Cut them into squares or rectangles, and enjoy your delicious creation!
