Ingredients

For the crust:

1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

¼ teaspoon salt

For the cheesecake filling:

16 oz (2 packages) cream cheese, softened to room temperature

¾ cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 cup sour cream

½ cup Nutella (plus extra for delightful swirling on top)

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 325°F (160°C). Prepare an 8x8-inch baking dish by lining it with parchment paper, allowing some excess paper to hang over the sides for easy removal later.

Create the crust: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Stir until the mixture resembles wet sand. Make sure everything is evenly combined.

Press the crust into the pan: Firmly pack this crumbly mixture into the bottom of your prepared baking dish. Use the back of a measuring cup to press down evenly and create a compact layer. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Once done, remove the crust from the oven and let it cool slightly while you prepare the filling.

Prepare the filling: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened cream cheese until it is smooth and creamy, which should take about 2-3 minutes. Gradually add in the granulated sugar, continuing to beat until well combined.

Incorporate the eggs: Add the eggs to the mixture one at a time, making sure to mix well after each addition until fully incorporated. Then, add the vanilla extract and sour cream, mixing until the batter is perfectly smooth.

Swirl in the Nutella: Pour half of the cheesecake batter over the cooled crust, spreading it evenly. Take ¼ cup of Nutella and drop small spoonfuls of it over the batter. Use a skewer or a knife to lightly swirl the Nutella into the cheesecake batter, creating a marbled effect.

Add the remaining batter: Pour the rest of the cheesecake batter on top of the Nutella-swirl layer. Again, dollop a few more spoonfuls of Nutella on top and swirl it gently for a beautiful marbled look.

Bake the cheesecake bars: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes. The edges should be set, but the center may still have a slight jiggle when done.

Cool and chill: Once baked, remove the cheesecake from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. After cooling, refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to ensure the bars set properly.

Serve and enjoy: Once fully chilled, lift the cheesecake bars out of the dish using the overhanging parchment paper. Cut into squares and enjoy! For an extra indulgent touch, drizzle some melted Nutella over the top just before serving.
