Ingredients

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1 teaspoon fine sea salt

1 cup warm milk (approximately 110°F/43°C)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, plus extra for brushing

1 tablespoon garlic powder

2 teaspoons dried Italian herbs (such as oregano, thyme, and basil)

¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

1 large egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

Prep the Dough:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, granulated sugar, and fine sea salt. Stir the dry ingredients together until they are evenly mixed.

      Add Wet Ingredients:

Create a well in the center of the flour mixture. Pour in the warm milk and melted butter. Using a wooden spoon or a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, mix until a shaggy dough starts to form.

          Knead the Dough:

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic. Alternatively, you can continue mixing with a stand mixer until the dough achieves the desired texture.

              First Rise:

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, covering it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap. Allow it to rise in a warm area until it doubles in size, approximately 1 hour.

                  Shape the Rolls:

After the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release air. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a smooth ball. Arrange these balls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, positioning them close together without touching.

                      Prepare Garlic Herb Topping:

In a small bowl, mix the remaining melted butter with the garlic powder and dried Italian herbs. Generously brush this flavorful mixture over the tops of the shaped rolls.

                          Second Rise:

Cover the baking dish with a kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for an additional 30-40 minutes or until they are noticeably puffy.

                              Preheat and Bake:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the rolls have risen, beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the top of each roll with the egg wash to achieve a shiny and golden crust.

                                  Bake the Rolls:

Place the rolls in your preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the rolls are fully cooked.

                                      Garnish:

After removing the rolls from the oven, immediately brush them with extra melted butter. Finish by sprinkling chopped fresh parsley on top for a bright touch.

                                          Serve:

Serve the rolls warm, ideally accompanied by a drizzle of honey or alongside your favorite soup or salad for a delightful meal!
