Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes, finely chopped (preferably oil-packed for enhanced flavor)

1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried basil)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)

Olive oil spray (for greasing the air fryer)

Instructions

Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef or turkey with breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes, chopped fresh basil, minced garlic, the egg, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Using your hands or a spatula, mix until all ingredients are fully incorporated and form a cohesive mixture.

Form the Meatballs: Once thoroughly mixed, take a handful of the mixture and shape it into small meatballs, roughly 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. You should yield about 20 meatballs.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to preheat at 400°F (200°C) for approximately 5 minutes. Preheating ensures the meatballs will start cooking immediately upon being placed in the fryer.

Air Fry the Meatballs: Lightly coat the air fryer basket with olive oil spray to avoid sticking. Place the meatballs inside the basket in a single layer, making sure they don’t touch each other (you may need to work in batches). Give the tops of the meatballs a light spray with olive oil for added crispiness.

Cooking Time: Air fry the meatballs at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes. Make sure to flip the meatballs halfway through for even cooking and browning. They should come out golden brown and cooked through, with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Serve and Enjoy: After cooking, carefully remove the meatballs from the air fryer. Serve them hot alongside spaghetti, on a sub roll topped with marinara sauce, or as tasty appetizers with toothpicks. For an extra touch, feel free to garnish with additional basil or grated Parmesan cheese.
