This technique not only reduces the calorie count but also allows for the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine through. Ingredients

1 lb chicken tenders

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup Panko breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)

Cooking spray or olive oil spray

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a medium mixing bowl, add the chicken tenders and pour in the buttermilk. Ensure that each piece is fully submerged and coated with buttermilk. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for a minimum of 30 minutes, or up to overnight. This allows the chicken to absorb flavors and become tender.

Prepare the Coating: In a separate shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well with a whisk or fork until evenly blended. In another shallow dish, place the Panko breadcrumbs for later use.

Dredge the Chicken: After marinating, take the chicken tenders out of the buttermilk, letting any excess liquid drip off. Start by dredging each tender in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring you shake off any extra flour. Dip them back into the buttermilk briefly, then roll each tender in the Panko breadcrumbs. Press gently to help the breadcrumbs adhere well to the chicken.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to preheat at 400°F (200°C) for approximately 5 minutes, ensuring optimal cooking conditions.

Cook the Chicken Tenders: Once preheated, arrange the coated chicken tenders in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to promote even cooking. Lightly spray the tops of the tenders with cooking spray for added crispiness.

Cooking Time: Air fry the chicken tenders for 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time to achieve an even golden brown finish. The tenders should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) when fully cooked.

Serve: Carefully remove the chicken tenders from the air fryer and allow them to rest for a couple of minutes. Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauces such as honey mustard, ranch, or barbecue for a delightful meal.
