4 cups fresh broccoli florets (or 2 cups frozen, thawed)

1 cup uncooked brown rice

2 cups chicken broth

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup cream of mushroom soup (store-bought or homemade)

½ cup milk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

½ cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

1 tablespoon olive oil (for fresh broccoli)

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it's ready for the casserole.

    Prepare the Broccoli: If you're using fresh broccoli, blanch the florets in boiling water for 2 minutes until they turn a bright green. Immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process, then drain thoroughly. If using frozen broccoli, make sure it's fully thawed and well-drained.

      Cook the Rice: In a medium saucepan, combine the uncooked brown rice with the chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 45 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed the broth completely.

        Create the Creamy Sauce: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper until smooth and well-combined.

          Combine the Ingredients: In a spacious casserole dish, layer the cooked chicken, blanched broccoli, and fluffy brown rice. Pour the creamy sauce over the mixture, gently stirring to ensure every ingredient is well-coated.
